Consultants to the Government of Punjab for the the Conservation of Punjab’s Grade I Monuments. These historic sites include historic structures such as monuments of Durbar Hall and Moorish Mosque, built by the royal family of Kapurthala.
The Moorish Mosque built by Maharaja Jagatjit Singh of Kapurthala is a unique architectural project of a Jami Mosque built for Kapurthala’s Muslim population by a Sikh ruler. Built on the model of the Kutubiyya Mosque in Morocco, this composition of Moorish arches was designed by Monsieur Monteaux, a Paris-based architect and completed in 1930.
The project involves the comprehensive structural conservation, exterior and interior restoration, landscape restoration and art conservation in this historic mosque, among the most stunning mosques in India. The project funded through Central Government 13th Finance Commission Grants is aimed at restoring the glory of Punjab’s finest historic monuments.
