Raj Bhavan, the erstwhile Government House Calcutta, was the seat of Government in British India. The imposing Neo Classical building is set among a sprawling estate in the heart of Kolkata, spread across a 27 acre estate. Built between 1799 and 1803 under the orders of the Marquess of Wellesley, this historic structure is one of the best representative examples of British Colonial architecture in India from the 18th century.
