Set in 220 acres of a private estate in Nainital, the Government House designed by Frederick William Stevens is the official summer residence of the Governor of Uttarakhand. The firm prepared a comprehensive conservation project funded by the Ministry of Urban Development aimed at the comprehensive conservation of one of the finest colonial estates and the restoration of its grand Victorian interiors. The structural, roof and interior restoration works of the Presidential wing were undertaken. Historic Victorian wallpapers and Burma teak wood panelling was restored in addition to restoring historic cast iron bathtubs in the bathrooms.
